MCE Macintosh Computer Expo Saturday, September 27, 2008
MCE or Macintosh Computer Expo is NCMUG's 15th fundraising event. Held this year at the Glaser Center in downtown Santa Rosa, thousands of Macintosh enthusiast come from all over the North Bay to visit with Macintosh product vendors and attend informational workshops. Since 1991 the show has grown in attendance from around 300 to over 1,000 and is now the largest Expo of it’s type in the North Bay second only to Mac World in San Francisco.
Great line up of speakers this year headlined by Photoshop guru Bert Monroy, digital photo expert Derrick Story, graphics evangelist Lesa King and host of YourMacLife, Shawn King. With over two dozen vendors showing their products, and great raffle prizes, this year promises to be the place to be on a Saturday in September.

Story - "Ten Things You Need to Know About iPhoto"
The latest version of iPhoto can handle most of your basic photography
needs. But it also has capabilities that go above and beyond the
mundane. In this session, Derrick Story will show you the 10 things
you need to know about this terrific consumer photo application.
- "Computer Maintenance & Backup 101"
Learn to be at peace with your computer. Now that Apple's next
generation of OS X - Leopard - has arrived let's take a look at
the best way to keep your computer on cruise control. We will start
with the built in utilities and how they have changed. Which 3rd
party programs should you own and which ones should you avoid? Should
you optimize? What about safe install practices for software updates
and new software? And a brief look at that ever popular topic -

techniques for getting better shots in camera. You'll learn the
basics of camera operation, which setting to use when, tips for
importing and organizing your collection, plus glean the secrets

Story - "Aperture or Lightroom... Which One Is Best for Me?"
Adobe and Apple are neck and neck in the race for best serious photo
management application. Both are great. But one will definitely
be the right choice for you. In this session, Derrick Story will
help you make the right choice.

Leopard provides lots of tools that can help you work closely
with friends, family, and colleagues. In this session, you'll learn
how to share documents using a variety of programs; share your screen
